The Penn-Trafford Report Highlighted on a National Web Site

The Penn-Trafford Report has been highlighted on the AASA (American Association of School Administrators) web site.  The link can be found here. I am grateful that AASA has recognized the usefulness of blogging in general and my blog specifically.  Here is an excerpt of the email notifying me that AASA was  featuring my blog:

We are writing to notify you that your blog, “The Penn Trafford Report,” is one of five currently being featured on AASA Connect, a microsite from AASA designed to celebrate success in public schools and serve as an interactive professional resource for superintendents.

I want to thank all of you who take the time to read my blog and I hope that you continue to find it useful.

  2. Your blog is a fantastic way to keep the public informed of what is happening in the district, especially your plans and philosophies for student learning. I hope you continue with this communication and are not dissuaded by people who continuously post negative comments and insist on dwelling on the past instead of moving forward with the bright picture you paint for the district's future. The recognition from AASA is well deserved, so thank you for the time and effort you put into the blog!

  3. Just a suggestion for a few cost cutting measures, the district needs to look into whether the heat in the elementary schools can be turned down in the winter months. Harrison Park is like walking into a sauna sometimes and excessive heat spreads germs. I was at a PTO meeting in the multi purpose room and felt nausea because of the heat. I wasn't the only one. Also, at the high school, kids need to wear heavy sweatshirts because the air conditioning keeps it so cold. I believe these are simple easy ways that the school district can save a little bit of money over the years.

  4. New Website and Blogging are great. However, when we moved to the community a few years ago one of the things I liked most about the area was the sense of community. Through the use of the THT folders, we knew a lot about what was going on in the school and local area. Not having the folders sent home, isolates you from the community. Having to go online each time and search for events of interest, becomes frustrating and cumbersome. Something always gets missed. Trees are a renewable resource and not all families have reliable internet usage. Please reconsider printing out the information and sending it home through the Take Home Tuesday Folders. Thanks and keep on communicating.

  6. Communication is always good. I hope that the teachers in the district will follow and step-up their efforts to communicate effectively and openly with parents.
